Orphan Asylum Intake Form Case No.: 1082 Status: Awaiting Adoption

He came in standing up.

Most residents arrive slumped, uncertain, folded into themselves. Not this one. He was upright on the intake table when the morning nurse found him — wild hair pointing in every direction, mismatched eyes wide open, mouth stitched into something that isn't quite a smile and isn't quite a grimace but lands somewhere uncomfortably between the two.

They call him Redd.

He is, to put it plainly, a lot. He has opinions about where he sits. He will stare at you from across the room with one white eye and one black eye until you acknowledge him, and then he will continue staring anyway. The other residents give him a respectful amount of space, which suits him fine.

But here is what the intake report doesn't tell you — what you'd only know if you looked closely enough to see past all that red:

The heart on his chest is anatomical. Real-looking. Detailed in a way that seems almost too intentional for something his size. Whoever made him wanted you to know that what beats inside him is genuine — complicated, exposed, a little raw around the edges, but real.

The stitches across his mouth aren't keeping him quiet. He simply chooses when to speak.

Condition: Handmade. One of a kind. Temperament: Intense. Unfiltered. Fiercely loyal to those who don't flinch. Special Notes: He has been passed over by people who found him "too much." He considers this their loss, and frankly, so do we.

He's not for everyone. But for the right person, he's exactly enough.

Once bonded, separation is discouraged.
