Found wandering the halls of Ward 7 sometime around the witching hour, this little one arrived with no explanation for the state of their coat — only a small handmade tag and those two very large, very black eyes that seem to follow you wherever you go.

The staff have taken to calling them Crimson.

Nobody is quite sure where the splatter came from. The nurses stopped asking. Crimson doesn't talk much, but they do clutch that dark little heart on their chest rather tightly when strangers approach — as if they've already had it broken once before and aren't eager to repeat the experience.

Despite appearances, Crimson has been nothing but gentle with the other residents. They sit quietly. They wait patiently. They simply want what every orphan here wants —

Someone brave enough to take them home.
