He arrived at that precise hour the staff have no good name for.

Not night. Not evening. The grey hour — the one where the light gives up trying and everything softens at the edges and the world goes the particular shade that is neither one thing nor the other. He was simply there in it, grey and mottled and perfectly camouflaged against the fading of the day, one wing catching what little light remained, the other black wing folded against his side like something he keeps tucked away until he decides you've earned the full view.

They call him Dusk.

He is every shade of grey at once — the grey of old stone, of storm clouds with opinions, of something that has weathered considerable things and come out the other side not broken but textured. His two red button eyes burn in all that grey like the last two embers of a fire that has decided not to go out just yet, stitched around with red that traces down his face like the memory of something he no longer needs to explain.

The heart on his chest is dark — nearly as dark as he is — stitched shut in red along every edge as though someone wanted to make certain it stayed sealed until the right moment. It has not opened yet. The staff believe it is waiting for the correct set of circumstances. Dusk has not confirmed or denied this.

He sits with a stillness that belongs to creatures of the in-between.

Condition: Handmade. One of a kind. Temperament: Contemplative. Unhurried. The kind of company that makes silence feel intentional rather than empty. Special Notes: He is consistently harder to spot at the end of the day. Facilities has checked the lighting twice. The lighting is fine.

He lives in the grey space between things. He is simply waiting for someone who understands that is where the most interesting things are found.

Once bonded, separation is discouraged.
