The sixth one from the woods.

The staff have now stopped updating the dedicated intake line for this and simply left it permanently checked. He was found at the tree line at dusk — white as birch, those two deep red-centered eyes catching the last of the light like embers in fresh snow, sitting with the particular stillness of something that has been in the dark long enough to become comfortable there and is now simply deciding what comes next.

They call him Void.

He is pale — thoroughly, completely, almost aggressively pale — in the way that empty pages are white, that new beginnings are white, that things wiped clean and waiting are white. He is not the gray of innocence exactly, nor the gray of absence. He is the gray of potential, which is both the most hopeful and the most unsettling kind.

The chest patch is black — a perfect dark circle, stitched around its edge in red like a wound that has been attended to with considerable care and considerable intention. It sits at his center like a held breath, like the pupil of an eye, like a thing that absorbs everything that comes near it and gives back only the red of its own careful border.

The small red X below it is the quietest thing about him. Which is saying something.

His arms are raised slightly — not reaching, not surrendering, but held in the precise position of something that has not yet decided which it is.

Condition: Handmade. One of a kind. Temperament: Still. Watchful. The kind of deep that takes time to sound and longer to forget. Special Notes: He is the palest resident to come from the woods and carries the darkest center. The staff find this either perfectly balanced or perfectly ironic. Possibly both.

All that palest gray around all that black — and somewhere in between, a small red X that says: here. This is where I am. Come find me.

Once bonded, separation is discouraged.
