Handmade Creepy Gothic Plush Doll | Orphan Asylum Gothling Intake # 1040

Intake #1040 — “Lagoon”

Orphan Asylum Intake Form
Case No.: 1040
Status: Awaiting Adoption

She arrived the color of shallow water over something interesting.

That is the best the intake nurse could manage in the log — that specific, luminous turquoise that belongs to places where the light goes all the way through and illuminates whatever is below. She was sitting when they found her, that wide stitched grin already in place, one large black-and-white button eye and one smaller solid button eye regarding the ward with the alert, forward energy of something that has just arrived somewhere new and is already finding it worthwhile.

They call her Lagoon.

She is the blue-green of something alive and moving — not the still blue of Mist or the cool consideration of Flannel but something more kinetic, the blue-green of water that catches light differently every time you look at it. She is bright and present and takes up her space with the cheerful confidence of something that has decided to be exactly where it is.

The heart on her chest is the detail that stops you. Three pieces — white, grey, black — assembled into one whole, each a different shade, each stitched down separately and together, a heart made from parts that don’t match and hold anyway. It is the most quietly philosophical heart in the ward and it sits on one of the most cheerful residents, which the staff find either deeply intentional or simply true.

The X below it is small and certain. Both at once.

Condition: Handmade. One of a kind.
Temperament: Bright. Present. The kind of warmth that arrives before you’ve decided whether you were ready for it and turns out not to have needed your permission.
Special Notes: The three-part heart has not separated. The staff did not expect it to. Some things are held together by the right kind of stitching, and that is enough.

She is bright water over a complicated bottom — and the right person will find that the combination is exactly what makes her worth diving into.

Once bonded, separation is discouraged.
