Intake #1051 — "Bloom"
Orphan Asylum Intake Form
Case No.: 1051
Status: Awaiting Adoption
She arrived smiling, which in this ward is always worth noting.
Not the complicated smile of someone working something out, not the performed smile of someone making an effort — the stitched, settled, already-decided smile of a creature who landed on her particular expression some time ago and has found no sufficient reason to revise it. Dark as charcoal, those two blue button eyes bright as forget-me-nots in all that grey, sitting with her arms out and her heart on full display like she came here specifically to show you something and has been patient about the timing.
They call her Bloom.
She is the dark grey of good soil — the specific, productive dark of something that grows things, that holds what it needs, that looks unassuming until you see what comes out of it. She and Pip arrived within days of each other and the staff have noted they share a color and a quiet confidence and absolutely nothing else, which seems about right.
The heart on her chest is purple — deep and deliberate, stitched in orange that runs warm against the cool of everything else — and on it, two flowers. A white daisy above. A yellow one below. Growing there, in the dark, in the center of her, as if she has been quietly tending something all along and this is simply the evidence.
The orange stitching of her smile matches the stitching of her heart. She coordinated. She noticed. She cared.
Condition: Handmade. One of a kind.
Temperament: Grounded. Cheerful in the specific way of something that grew its joy rather than was given it.
Special Notes: She and Pip have been observed on adjacent shelves. Neither has commented. The flowers on her chest appear, to at least two staff members, to have grown slightly since intake. This has not been formally documented.
She grew flowers in the dark and kept smiling about it. The right person will understand that this is not a small thing — it is, in fact, everything.
Once bonded, separation is discouraged.
