Something is running.

That was the first entry in the intake log and it remains the most accurate. From the pink button eye — vivid, magenta, the most alive color in the room — black trails down her face in slow deliberate rivulets, as if that particular eye has been feeling things at a volume the rest of her has quietly agreed to contain. The black button eye beside it is dry. Still. Watching. The contrast between them is not a contradiction. It is, the staff have concluded, simply the whole truth of her at once.

They call her Spill.

She is lavender — the soft, considered purple of something that chose gentleness as a foundational position and has not been argued out of it despite what her face might suggest. She is round and settled and present, worn stitching across her features like a record of things that happened and were survived and did not change the fundamental character of what she is.

The heart is her centerpiece and she knows it — pink, ringed in dripping black that spreads at the edges like something overflowing its own borders, marked with a bold X at its center as if to say: here. This is the thing. Don't look away. It is the most dramatic heart in the Asylum and it belongs to one of the softest residents, which the staff find either deeply poetic or entirely expected.

Condition: Handmade. One of a kind. Temperament: Tender. Uncontained. The specific courage of something that wears its overflow on the outside and has stopped apologizing for it. Special Notes: One eye runs. One eye watches. The staff have agreed this is not a malfunction. It is a complete and accurate emotional system.

She is not falling apart. She is simply too full to keep all of it in — and the right person will find that the most honest thing they've ever been offered.

Once bonded, separation is discouraged.
