She arrived with golden curls and absolutely no apologies.

The hair alone warranted a separate line in the intake log — yellow yarn wound into loose spirals that catch the light like something that grew in a garden nobody expected to find here. The rest of her followed: solid green, settled, one pink button eye and one yellow circle regarding the ward with the calm assessement of someone who has decided that first impressions are other people's problem and she will simply be exactly herself and let that do the work.

They call her Marigold.

She is the green of something that grows in difficult soil and blooms anyway — not despite the conditions but almost cheerfully indifferent to them. The golden hair is her signature, worn without irony, a crown of something bright and tangled and genuinely hers that no amount of institutional fluorescent lighting can dim.

The heart on her chest is yellow — the same warm gold as the curls, as if the color she keeps inside her and the color she wears on top are in direct and deliberate conversation with each other. A single pink button anchors it at the center, the one small note of contrast that makes the whole composition land.

The stitching across her face is worn matter-of-factly, the way someone wears a scar they've long since stopped explaining. It is part of the record. It does not define the record.
