Simply standing — arms out, feet planted, the absolute black of her absorbing every shadow in the room and giving back only those two pink button eyes and the hot pink heart blazing from her chest like a signal fire that has been burning patiently for a very long time and intends to keep burning until someone finally notices it.

They call her Magpie.

She is black the way certain things are black — completely, without compromise, the kind of black that is not an absence but a choice. And against it, pink. Vivid, unapologetic, almost aggressive pink — the small heart on her face worn like a marking, like a brand she gave herself, and the larger heart on her chest worn like armor that has somehow also remained, against all odds, soft.

The X below her heart is the only small thing about her. Everything else announces itself. The X is a whisper — a quiet signature on something she is clearly very serious about.

She stands when others sit. She keeps her arms open in a way that is not vulnerability but invitation — the considered, deliberate openness of someone who has decided that closing off costs more than it saves.

She has been here long enough to know exactly who she is. She is simply waiting for someone else to find out.
