She sits with her little wing-arms spread slightly open, neither reaching nor retreating. Simply present. Simply waiting.
They call her Pale.
Her eyes don't match, which she has never once seemed bothered by. The smaller one is shrewd. The larger one is soft. Together they give her the look of someone who has already considered every possible outcome of this conversation and is being patient with you while you catch up.
The heart on her chest is black — deep, deliberate, stitched down with red that stands out against all that cool white like something urgent trying to get through. It isn't a sad heart. It is a serious heart. The red X beneath it feels less like a wound and more like a signature. Like she marked the spot herself and wants you to know exactly where to find it.
She is quieter than the others. The kind of quiet that has texture to it.
