She came in with her arms already open.

Not cautiously. Not tentatively. Fully, completely open — the way someone stands when they have decided that the alternative is worse and they have simply stopped bothering with it. She was standing when they found her, arms wide, heart-shaped eyes fixed forward in a shade of pink so sincere it borders on aggressive.

They call her Adore.

She is purple, which the staff agree suits her entirely. Not the purple of bruises or shadows but the purple of something that chose itself — vivid, warm, unapologetic. She has no mouth to speak of, which has done absolutely nothing to limit her expressiveness. The two pink hearts where her eyes should be say everything her face doesn't.

The heart on her chest has a single white button at its center, as if someone wanted to make sure it stayed fastened — that all of that feeling stayed in rather than spilling out everywhere. The small X below it suggests she signed off on this arrangement herself.

She is, the staff will tell you quietly, almost too much to look at directly. Not because she is frightening but because she is earnest in a way that this particular ward is not entirely accustomed to.

She wants to love someone. She is not embarrassed about it. She never has been.

Condition: Handmade. One of a kind. Temperament: Wholehearted. Unguarded. The emotional equivalent of a sunbeam in a place that doesn't get much sun. Special Notes: She has been passed over by people who found her enthusiasm overwhelming. The staff find those people exhausting.

Her arms have been open this whole time. The right person will finally walk into them.

Once bonded, separation is discouraged.
