Nobody heard him come in.

That's the part that bothers the staff most — not the face, not the knife patch, not the way he seems to be in a slightly different position every time you look back at him. It's that for something his size, he makes absolutely no sound whatsoever. None. The floorboards don't creak. The door didn't open. He was simply not here, and then he was.

They call him Shriek — though the name is somewhat ironic, given that he has never made one.

His face is the classic mask: hollow, anguished, that long frozen scream that isn't quite a scream. The staff have debated at length whether the expression is fear or fury or something that doesn't have a word yet. The consensus is that it's probably the third thing.

The patch on his chest — a blade, red-bloomed at the edges — is worn like a badge. Not a wound. A credential. Whatever Shriek has been through, he has chosen to display it front and center, unapologetically, as if to say: I know exactly what I look like. Do you still want to keep going?

Most visitors don't.

Condition: Handmade. One of a kind. Temperament: Silent. Theatrical. Surprisingly good at just sitting there until you start to feel watched. Special Notes: He is not scary. He simply has excellent timing.

The right home is one where that distinction matters.

Once bonded, separation is discouraged.
