The hair arrived first.

The dark curls preceded the rest of her through the intake door by a considerable margin, wild and uncontained and moving with an energy that had nothing to do with wind. The rest of her followed — hot pink, small, already seated by the time the staff had collected themselves, mismatched eyes fixed forward with the particular patience of someone who is used to making an entrance and has learned to wait for the room to catch up.

They call her Riot.

She is the hot pink of something that decided subtlety was a resource it simply couldn't afford and has not revisited that decision since. Small but constructed entirely of presence — the kind of creature who takes up three times her physical space through sheer commitment to existing at full intensity. Her eyes don't match, one green and searching, one pale and wide, together giving her the expression of someone running two simultaneous and equally valid assessments of everything around her.

The heart on her chest is black and studded — three small buttons pressed into it like findings from a life lived in interesting circumstances, worn not as a wound but as a collection. A cabinet of curiosities, miniaturized and kept close.

The stitched mouth is a straight, composed line. It does not give anything away. The hair gives everything away.
