She came in small and sat down like she owned the room.

Not aggressively. Not loudly. Just with the particular settled certainty of someone who has assessed the situation, found it acceptable, and decided to stay. Arms out, eyes mismatched and bright — one green with a dark button center, one yellow and wide — face stitched with the careful lines of someone who has had a great deal of feelings and organized them neatly into her own features rather than trouble anyone else with them.

They call her Thistle.

She is purple in the gentle, considered way — not dramatic, not demanding, just wholly and completely herself in a shade that suits her so perfectly the staff cannot imagine her any other way. She is small enough that first-time visitors sometimes overlook her entirely, which she has noted and filed away without apparent bitterness.

The heart on her chest is yellow — warm, sunny, a color that has no business being this cheerful on a ward like this one, and yet there it sits, stitched carefully in place with a small X below it like a treasure map that leads directly to the point. Everything about her is like that. Smaller than expected. More than it appears.

She watches the others with those mismatched eyes and says nothing. She doesn't need to.

Condition: Handmade. One of a kind. Temperament: Perceptive. Unassuming. Quietly the most interesting thing in any room she occupies. Special Notes: She is smaller than the other residents. She does not appear to have any feelings about this whatsoever, which the staff find both admirable and slightly unnerving.

Good things come in all sizes. The right person will know that the moment they see her.

Once bonded, separation is discouraged.
