The bats arrived first.

Three of them — small, black, perfectly still — found perched on the intake shelf before anyone noticed the pink creature sitting beneath them, mismatched eyes wide, wild dark tufts standing at attention, looking for all the world like someone who had absolutely nothing to do with any of this and would appreciate it if you didn't make a thing of it.

They call her Swarm.

She is pink — the soft, unguarded pink of something that decided a long time ago that its exterior was going to be gentle regardless of what it had collected along the way. And what she has collected, apparently, is bats. Two on her arms like living accessories, one at her chest like a brooch chosen with care. They are hers. She is theirs. The staff stopped trying to remove them after the first attempt and have not repeated the experiment.

Her eyes don't match — one pink and dripping at the edges in the way Séance's do, one deep black and absolute — giving her the expression of someone experiencing two entirely different emotions simultaneously and finding this perfectly manageable. The long seam running down her center is stitched with the careful precision of someone who was opened up once and made certain the closing was done right.

She is, against all reasonable expectation, deeply charming. The bats help, somehow. The pink helps more.

Condition: Handmade. One of a kind. Temperament: Whimsical. Layered. The specific kind of sweet that has a dark underside and isn't hiding it. Special Notes: The bats have not moved since intake. They have, however, been observed in slightly different positions than the night before. Facilities has no comment.

She comes with companions. The right person will consider this a feature.

Once bonded, separation is discouraged.
